Gallery Bar Records is the sub-label of Oxford Art Factory and Oxford Creative Academy with a mission to nurture the next generation of Australian music talent.

The label helps foster artistic growth and nurture the next generation of Australian artists through industry mentorship, portfolio development, and innovative micro-grants.

By collaborating with Oxford Art Factory students to provide them with essential tools for success, the label aims to cultivate a vibrant community of creators equipped to thrive in the ever-evolving music landscape.

The label's Distribution Deal offers a net-profit model of 80/20 (Artist/Label), ensuring that artists receive the lion's share of profits while benefiting from Gallery Bar Records' extensive support network.

Gallery Bar Records label support services include:

  • Label Management & Data Analysis: Tailored insights and strategies for artistic growth.

  • Marketing Strategies: Innovative approaches to capturing and engaging audiences. Digital distribution and streaming.

  • Radio Services: Amplifying reach and exposure.

  • Grants: Financial support to fuel creative endeavours.

Quarterly micro-grants are available to OCA students to help elevate their careers.

The grants are:

  1. Audience Capture Grant

  2. Market Alignment Grant

All grant applicants must be current Oxford Creative Academy students and complete three key "Creator Activities" from Student Resources, reflecting on artistic direction, market research, and implementation.

Students interested in applying can do so via the learning management system (LMS). Selected participants will be paired with experienced professionals to learn and contribute to real-world label operations.

  • Gallery Bar Records is a new record label powered by Oxford Art Factory, Oxford Creative Academy and the A&R Department, committed to nurturing Australian music talent. 

  • Our mission is to nurture the foundations of Australian artists through active industry mentorship, portfolio development, and quarterly micro-grants, enabling artists to thrive in the modern music landscape.

  • Gallery Bar Records is an imprint of The A&R Department, a well-established entity in the Australian music industry known for supporting and promoting emerging talents.

  • We offer distribution deals with a net profit model of 80/20, where 80% of profits go to the artist and 20% to the label. This model ensures that artists retain the majority of their earnings while benefiting from our extensive support network.

  • In our 80/20 model, artists receive 80% of the net profits from their music sales and streams, while the label retains 20% to cover operational and promotional costs. This arrangement allows artists to maximise their earnings.

  • We offer a wide range of support services, including:

    • Label Management & Data Analysis: Release and distribute your music plus, gain insights into your music's performance. 

    • Marketing Strategies: Innovative plans to engage your target audience and expand your reach across social media and streaming platforms. 

    • Radio Services: Boost your music's presence across radio. 

    • Grants: Financial assistance to support your creative projects

  • Our marketing team develops tailored strategies for each artist, focusing on audience engagement, branding, and maximising exposure through digital and traditional media channels.

  • We offer two types of micro-grants:

    1. Audience Capture Grant: Focused on building and engaging with your audience.

    2. Market Alignment Grant: Aimed at aligning your music with market trends for optimal reach.

  • Grant recipients receive 20% of the quarterly profits from The A&R Department’s catalogue, approximately $300 per quarter. These funds are managed collaboratively with the artists to ensure strategic allocation.

  • Gallery Bar Records will work closely with grant recipients to manage the funds and execute the strategies, ensuring transparency and effective use of resources. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance the artist's career and portfolio.

  • To be eligible for our grants, applicants must:

    • Be enrolled and active students, having completed a minimum of two units.

    • Be licensors of their work to Gallery Bar Records/The A&R Department.

    • Complete the required "Creator Activities" and reflect on their insights and outcomes.

  • Applicants must complete three key activities:

    1. Developing Artistic Direction: Define and refine your unique artistic voice.

    2. Conducting Introductory Market Research: Understand your target audience and market dynamics.

    3. Implementing Findings: Apply insights to craft a strategic approach for audience engagement.

    Applicants must reflect on these activities, highlighting insights, outcomes, and measurable impacts, along with examples of how the results influence their artistic vision and strategy.

  • Grant applications are due the fortnight after each accounting period. Here is the timeline:

    • Q1 (Dec-Feb): Applications due by the end of the second week of June.

    • Q2 (Mar-May): Applications due by the end of the second week of September.

    • Q3 (June-Aug): Applications due by the end of the second week of December.

    • Q4 (Sept-Nov): Applications due by the end of the second week of March.

  • Eligible students can apply for grants by completing the application form. Ensure that all requirements are met and submit your application by the specified deadline.

  • Our Extra-Curricular Industry Application provides students with the opportunity to shadow roles and responsibilities within our label support team. This program is designed to build practical experience and prepare students for future campaigns in the music industry.

  • Students interested in gaining hands-on experience can apply through the student learning management system (LMS). Selected participants will be paired with experienced professionals to learn and contribute to real-world label operations.
